A lady dies as she rescued a stranger from being swept by floods in Ongata Rongai


This past week in Ongata Rongai we lost a heroine to the floods

It has now emerged that Hannah Nduku drowned while trying to help a gentleman who had been marooned while trying to cross the Kandisi River on Tuesday morning.

The gentleman was clinging for dear life when he spotted the children and called out for help. Hannah,being the eldest in the group, went to assist him and helped him climb back onto the incomplete bridge but she herself was unable to climb up or go back the way she had come due to fatigue…’Nimechoka, wacha tu niwachilie’ were her last words before she let go of the protruding Y10 bars ( used by residents to climb over the incomplete bridge) and fell to her death in the raging river
