The bus that was attacked today at Nyangoro area heading to Mombasa from Lamu
“A bus KCH 141Z was attacked by armed gunmen. The bullets landed on the right front heel damaging it, and other bullets landing on both sides of the bus body. Three men were shot at close range and were killed instantly.” Lamu county commissioner Macharia when talking to the press.
The bus was travelling from Mombasa to Lamu when the suspected militants flagged it down at Nyongoro area.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle refused to stop and sped off, forcing the militants to shoot at the bus several times. It is reported that he suspected the group could be terrorists. He sped off, forcing the attackers to spray the bus with bullets.

Lamu county commission issued a statement claiming the exact number of passengers has not been established. “We are looking for the passengers’ list. We want to know how many people were in that bus and if everyone has been accounted for,” he said.
The attackers are said to have then fled into the forest. The three who are reported dead include; the bus conductor. He is said to have died on the spot from gunshot wounds. The names of victims are yet to be released.
This is another terror attack on the nation as it opens a new year. The attack on Dusit D2 happened in January 2019 where the militia ambushed the hotel in Nairobi leaving several people dead and others injured.
There were however intelligence reports, with officers taking focus on entertainment places during the ushering of the new year.
