Following the violence, I want to call on the DPP Noordin Haji and IG Joseph Boinett to arrest and prosecute Narok Senator Ledama OleKina and other Maa leaders over their inflammatory and reckless statements that led to the violence.
We are left to wonder why these leaders have not been arrested for having instigated violence which has resulted in loss of lives and left several people injured while many others have been rendered homeless.
Two months ago, the same leaders held a meeting in Nkaretha area in Narok where they called for eviction of non indigenous communities living in Mau area.
In that meeting, the leaders who were led by Senator Ledama and Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta threatened to take action if non indigenous people do not leave Mau.
Following their threats and inflammatory statements in that meeting, we have seen forceful eviction of people allocated land in some parts of Maasai Mau and recent skirmishes witnessed in Olposimoru area at the border of Narok and Nakuru counties.
We are also left wondering why the police are quick in arresting people they perceive to be culprits of the violence while leaving out the real architects of eviction and violence in Mau area.
Even after the video clip of Senator Ladema abusing our mothers and linking the Kipsigis community as war mongers having gone viral, the police and Francis Ole Kaparo led NCIC are yet to take action against the Senator
It is unfortunate that the people who have been arrested are from one community while the conflict is between two communities.
We are also calling for immediate transfer of Narok County Commissioner Mr George Natembeya and total overhaul of security team in Narok for having taken sides in the recent skirmishes.
A large number of the affected people evicted from their farms are living in the cold in some schools in Narok and Nakuru counties.
Others displaced by the violence in Olposimoru are camping at St Kizito Catholic Church in Olenguruone and DEB primary school without food and clothing.
Lastly, I would like to appeal to our President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to help intervene in the Mau issue so as to avert further skirmishes and evictions in the area.
