It will be a triple celebration for deputy president William Ruto as he graduates at the University of Nairobi with a PhD on Friday, December 20.
Ruto will be graduating after defending his thesis on the ‘Influence of Anthropogenic Activities on Land Use in Western Kenya’.
He defended his thesis at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nairobi.
The DP will graduate alongside 9,000 other graduands at the UoN square beginning 7:30 am.
It is on this same day that Ruto will celebrate his birthday as he was born on December 21, 1966 in Sambut village, Kamagut, Uasin Gishu to Daniel Cheruiyot and Sarah Cheruiyot.
Ruto will be turning 52.
On the same day in 1991, Ruto married Rachel. He has continuously told Kenyans of how they met before they got married.
Ruto said he often visited Kakamega county as he got his “better half” there.
“Oparanya says I come to Kakamega often. It’s true. I got my better half from here,” he said in April.
His wife Rachel attended Likuyani Primary and Butere Girls’ High schools in Kakamega town.
